the peice i loved the most was... the egyptian heiroglyphic tablet made for the Pharoh Zoser
What I remember most about the MIA collection is... The Haystack painting by Claude Monet. I loved the way that he painted it at different times and seasons. The brush strokes and the cool colors were most impressionable to me. I would like to know how long it took him to paint it and what fascinates him about drawing the same thing at different times.
the art piece i remember most from the MIA collection is the VanGouh "olive trees" it really reminded me of the most favorite of his art work "stary night"
the art piece i remember most from the MIA collection is the VanGouh "olive trees" it really reminded me of the most favorite of his art work "stary night"
What i remember most about the MIA collection is... the India sand sculptures made from the ministers. It intrigued me about this piece is that it was made of completely sand and after their done they just let the water wash it away.
I remember all the paintings and the sculptures. They were really neat and fun to look at. One of my favorite pieces was the Olive Trees. It was made by Vincent van Gogh. It is an oil on canvas painting. There is a beautiful sun and trees, there is some water at the base of the trees. There is also mountains in the background. I think the colors he used are very beautiful and the little dashes of oil paint are a cool idea. It is very interesting and I like it because it looks like it has a texture to it. I want to know what Vincent van Gogh was thinking when he painted the picture. I want to know what his thoughts and ideas were that made him think of olive trees? I thought the painting was very nice along with all of the other art pieces I saw at the museum.
What I remember most about the MIA is,the Asian section it was very cool and interesting. The piece I most enjoyed was art by Vincent Van Gogh. It is called The Olive Trees. What I most like about it is the sky which is all a part of the sun and the little dashes of oil he uses to make each thing. I like how the trees look, the trunks of the trees are a little surreal but still kind of realistic. Also I love all the colors he uses in this picture. This is a Oil on canvas. What I would like to know more about is, how did he get the idea to do his paintings with the little dashes of paint/texture. And How did he get the ideas to paint the olive trees and where did this take place.
what i remember most about the mia colection is the big colorful panda looking sculpture, it was really big and cool. the "panda" was really awesome, i really like that it had very bright colors and had many different shapes. the thing that i thought was really cool about the "panda" is that it was standing on a wooden chest and it had really small legs so i am still wondering how it can stand up.
I really enjoyed the first sculpture that was in the lobby area. The piece was yellow with lights that streamed through it. It had one shape that was repeated in different forms throughout the sculpture. I also liked the piece of art that was completely made out of sand, but looked as if it was a quilt. I thought it was truly amazing, it seemed to take a very long time that many people had to fit into there busy day. It really just blew my mind away how it was so detailed. Thanks for bringing us there, it was truly and amazing experience. -Olivia
The collection I remember the most at the Museum is the photography collection. My favorite piece though wasn't in that collection. It was in a different one. My favorite one was called Cube. It was by Mona Hatoum. It was my favorite because it was very unique and interesting to look at. I thought it looked complicated but yet simple at the same time. I wonder what inspired her to create that piece of art and what she used to make it.
What I remember about MIA collection is that there are many sections and very many pieces the public is able to see. My favorite piece was the sand quilt that is featured on your blog. The Monks made my favorite piece. It was a quilt made of sand. The most impressionable part was that it wasn't all the same level. I want to know what it is called and I also want to know when we can go back.
i remember seeing a lot of really good paintings. my favorite most memorable painting was the '' saint- secerine'' painting. the artist who did it was Robert Delaunay. the type of art of it was a medium oil on canvas type. i like it because its kinda of a illusion and has great colors and a dark blue which made the light blue stand out more. i would like to know what other paintings he did.
What i remember about the Mia collection is the Yamantaka Mandala. The artist was monks of the Gyuto Tantric University. The Yamantaka Mandala was made from sand. It is impressionable to me because of the color. Also of it's details. What I want to know more about it is that how did they put up it because it is made up form sand. What I also want to know is that how did they made it colorful make it bumpy.
I like the sammuri warrior suit becaus and how helpful it could e it would be very helpful in battle and in cold weather. I like this because it's design and how helpful it would be.
I really enjoyed the MIA trip! There were so many beautiful art exhibits as well as paintings, sculptures, and photographs. I liked almost all of the artwork but my favorite was one of a mom holding her baby. If I had a picture I would remember what it was called but the title is slipping my mind. If anyone knows what it was called, PLEASE tell me.
I really enjoyed the MIA Field Trip! It was a very memorable experience. Although all of the art was truly amazing, my most favorite was one of a mom holding her baby. Now, I know that it was a painting but with all of the other art that I saw, I just can't remember what the artist's name was or what the title was. I know that this art was impressionable to me because it wasn't incredibly modern or didn't have such striking colors, but the way that the artist made this painting made you kind of go "ahh." It was so calming to look at that piece. I found this piece really unique because the background was somewhat blurred but the details put in the faces were just spectacular. Like I said, I'm really sorry that I don't remember the title or the author of this gorgeous painting, but I do remember that there was a painting next to it that was of a woman. She was dressed in green and blue tones and the floor, ceiling and whatnot was in those same color tones. If anyone knows who the artist is of the mom and baby painting, PLEASE tell me. As for what I want to know... well... I want to know who the artist is and the title of this painting.
I really like this picture because it has a beautiful. how could someone bang on the glass. i like how it shows all the elements of the earth. This really stuck out at me, what is really impressive was how they made it out of sand!!!! ~kawana
This was one of my favorite this in Mia... it was interesting how they had used sand knowing that barely anybody uses sand... knowing that they had used little grains of sand... listening to the guy tell us that it only took a couple days would make u think how did they do that...knowing tht they used fine straws.
The thing i remember most about the MIA was the piece that the mong made. That piece was also my favorite piece. I don't remember what the artist name was but it was made out of sand. The thing that stood out to me is that they made it out of sand and all the beautiful colors. I would like to know more about what this piece means.
Micah Swerman My favorite piece from the MIA art collection, is a picture of an elephant and tiger battling. I don't know the artists name or the painting's name. It just leaped out to me from the wall as if it were alive. I'd like to know where it came from and why the artist made it. And if there were a story behind, I'd like to hear it.
The first thing I remember about the MIA collection is that most of the pieces there were full of color and very beautiful for example the piece above of the question, is full of detail and colors. My favorite piece was the tea house, where the people would go and have tea in the little house and where they would go sit in a open room and have tea with others, also what I found interesting was that people would go to the rocks, and the rocks would have water where they would wash up before the tea and on there way in they would take there shoes off and go through a tiny door and have some tea. I can not remember the artist's name. They type of art it is, is a model. The tea house is a exact replica of the originals. I find it very interesting that the people held thing like this. It is very interesting to know that they held a "celebration" like as simple as having tea. I would like to know farther into what cultures and age ranges that did the "tea".
The first thing I remember about the MIA is the samurai armor. But my favorite piece was the sand mandala because it looked complicated to make and it was very colorful. It shows the seasons and the five senses, which you can't see at first glance. It is also very interesting to look at. I want to know how long it took to make it and how they made the sand stay still and stacked on top of each other.
Going to the MIA collection was a great experience. The first thing I remember about MIA was right as I walked in there was a huge light made out of glass. It almost looked like mac and cheese. The piece i remember the most is the Sand Mandala made by the Monks of the Gyuto Tantric University. It was in the Asian collection. This piece of art is very impressionable to me because I like all the bright and vivid colors. I would also like to learn more about the tools they used to make this Mandala
My most favorite piece at the MIA collection is..... I can't remember the artist's name, but it shows a old women siting down with the Victorian dresses and a mini purse. I also notice that the painting was made out of the oil paint. Lastly the reason I loved this piece of art is.....I love looking at the female wearing Victorian dresses, it just look so glamorous and such a lady-like.
I really enjoyed going to the MIA. I went there many times when I was little because my family and I lived in Minneapolis. I liked the painting with all the faces and the colorful dots in the square. I really thought this was interesting because the artist was able to draw the same face numerus times without lots of flaws. It was very colorful and different from most of the paintings in the museum. The faces each had their own personality and were each different. It was a very cool piece and it really stood out to me. I did also like other sculptures and paintings like the Jade carving, the Munk's sculpture and the Zen tea house. But this one was very different and I liked it a lot.
All of the paintings, sculptures, and exhibits were amazing at M.I.A, but one of the pieces that really caught my attention and I found really interesting and fascinating was the oil and acrylic painting that was made from the original copy of an old photograph. From a distance, it looks like a realistic photo until you read the description and it tells you what it is. The detail on this piece is fantastic and that's why it is one of my favorite pieces in the museum.
The art piece that stuck out at me most was the mummy sarcophagus from the Africa tour. My favorite part about it was knowing that there was someone inside of it buried thousands of years ago, but the beauty was the artwork painted all over the sarcophagus. The interesting thing about the artwork was how the sarcophagus was mirrored with the other side. My most favorite piece was a sculpture made out of some kind of metal. It looked like a mouse/bunny and it stood maybe like six to seven feet tall with very small, short legs and full of many colors. I don't remember the artist name but i liked it because of its color and funkiness.....not very often you will come to a Art Museum and find a sculpture that looks like a Power-puff-girl....That honestly why i liked it so much, its just jumped out...I want to learn more about why the artist chose to make what he did. -BRONWYN
i remember that there was so much art that you wouldn't be able to see it all in one day. my favorite piece of art was the sand painting. i do not remember the artists name. it was a sand "painting". it is impressionable to me because its the one that i most enjoyed. it was the most interesting by what it was made of to me. i really would like to know the little details like if all the colors and symbols meant anything special. Hannah A.L.
The art pieces that I remember most from our MIA field trip was the tea house and the Sand Mandala. These pieces both had a lot of meaning behind them and magnificent texture. My favorite and most memorable piece was the Sand Mandala, this piece was my favorite because of the beauty and meaning behind it. This piece blew me away because it was all made out of tiny bits and pieces of sand. This piece of art was made by Tibetan monks from Gyuto Tantric University in 1991. This piece of art was impressionable to me because of all the time and work that was put into this piece. This piece of art was impressionable to me also because after the monks spent months working on these pieces they wash them away into the sea. They did this because in their religion they believed that every piece of sand they put down was a prayer.
I thought the Jade Mountain was amazing! how many hours did that take??! I'm not sure of the artist's name, but it was on display with the Japan exhibits. It's a sculpture made out of jade. It's so amazing because it would take tons of work to do that!
My favorite exhibit was the Yumantaka Manala. This exhibit was part of the Hmong collection. It was made by Gyoto monks. It's a Mandala. I like it the most because the colors are radiant. Another thing that makes this so different is that it is made out of sand. How long did it take to finish it?
I remember the collections being very diverse. Out of everything my favorite painting, an oil painting, was Snow, Boulevard de Clichy, Paris by Paul Signac. I really liked this painting because of all of the details, and the snow is so beautiful! I wish I could know what inspired Signac to create this painting, or did he just think it was a picture perfect scene? While I was online looking for the name of the artist I also found a painting called the Upper Ipswich River, it is amazing! Snow, Boulevard de Clichy, Paris: http://www.artsmia.org/viewer/detail.php?id=1414&i=162&v=12&dept=6 Upper Ipswich River: http://www.artsmia.org/viewer/detail.php?v=12&id=10518
Hello there Mrs. Burns! My favorite exhibit was the Yumantaka Manala. This exhibit was part of the Hmong collection of Buddhist artifacts. All the artifacts were REALLY interesting, and beautiful in their ways. The piece of art was made by a group of Gyoto monks who came to Minnesota to put forth their efforts and keep the Tibetan culture alive. Usually it gets set in the river to show that life has no end, but since the monks knew the museum wanted to keep it, they didn't do that. Instead the gave it to MIA. This is a Mandala, or a circle meant to represent the Buddhist universe. I think why this piece of art stood out to me the most was because it's so beautiful. The colors are radiant. Another thing that makes this so different is that it is made out of sand. Each tiny piece is made out of sand! That must have took a long time! I want to know how long it took to finish it. And I want to know if all the Mandala's look like this. If not, what do they look like?
The piece I remember in the MIA collection was the large piece of carved jade. That had to take hours to carve, and is apparently the largest chunk of jade outside of china! how much did that cost? It would be a huge amount of money. Something that I would like to know more about this piece is how long it took to carve, and who created the piece. It is so detailed, and if something got seriously messed up it would all be over.
I remember, Edo Pop: The Graphic Impact of Japanese Prints, and the india one also. My most favorite piece is Olive trees by Vincent Van Gogh. It was oil on canvas. It was impressionable to me because, just the way it stuck out, it looks like stained glass, it was bright colored and got my attetion. The black outlining made it really pop out and suprise me. What i want to know more about this piece is why did he make it? And what inspired him to create it -Arianna
I loved going to the MIA last week the art there was so cool and very appealing on the eyes :D but my favorite one was the that 70s show playing on the big projector screen. the reason it was up there was because of durring the show when they talk in the circle its apperantly art. i loved that i watched it for over 25 mintues! lmfao :D i loved going to the MIA and i hope i will go there later in the future!!!
What i remembered the most is the Japanese armor its part of the sakugo clan or its spelled or prenounced something like that cause thats the symbol on the armor of the clan its like the sigeru or something shigeru. I dont remember the artists name because it was armor so im guessing Japanese. It was a piece of armor. The art was impressionable to me because i just love armor and medieval stuff and wars. i want to know if it was a regular samurai or if it was a general?
i remember that most of the stuff in the art instatute was really old. my favorite piece was titled: Mummy of Lady Teshat in cartonnage. the artist was one egyptian. it is an historical person. i love egypt like my friend.i want to know what that person looks like and how old she is now.
All of the painting and structures wear very like perfect and pretty. My favorite piece was the big sun in the middle when we first walked in. I'm not sure the artist but I think it was made out of ballons. Because i would really like to make that. I would like to know who made it and how it was made.
I loved the sun sculpture (the on in the lobby). I also found the Jade Mountain interesting. That must've taken a lot of Jade! I forgot what the artists name was.
What I remember from MIA is the tea house. My favorite piece is the sand mandala.I forgot the artists of the sand Mandala. The sand mandala is the one that had the colorful sands.I like this one because it has colorful sands.
The piece of art that i remember is the Frank by Chuck Close. My most favorite is Frank Close the artist name is Chuck Close. the type of art is a panting. It is impressionable to me because i like to paint and when ever i i look at a painting just want to meet the artist and ask him questions like why he made it? and is he related to you?
Our trip to MIA is by far one of my favorite educational field trips this year. I enjoyed all of the art pieces on display in MIA such as the Mandala with individual little pieces of sand glued on to it, or the mother holding her baby- which is made up of HIGH HEELS- the some what calming feeling you experience when you first lay eyes on the sculpture, a mother baring her child. However in the end ONE of the pieces that I both remembered and enjoyed the most was FRANK by Chuck Close. The detail devoted into the painting captures you in and mystifies the viewer. At first you think it's a picture but after close examination you realize each and every hair is a brush stroke and every wrinkle and freckle has gone through great care. If I could now anything else about the painting I would like to know how the artist made the man look so detailed to the point that it looks like a photo. (Signe)
Of all things that I remember, I remember that all the pieces in the Art Museum were all very carefully detailed. Also, that they were all different from one another and just none of them were alike. The artwork the caught my eye was probably the large yellow ball of glass, I couldn't find the name of it or the artist but it was hanging down above our heads when we entered the museum. It reminded me of mac & cheese, which happens to be my favorite food. It just radiated triumph for me and gave me a feeling that I was in the presence of something magnificent. I would like to learn more about the artist and his other work, and specially what the piece's name is. If anyone knows what it is called please tell me. (Kate)
mia comment by jace. 1. I remember that that they have meny different collections. My favorite was the china because they have meny cool sculture and the samurai armor. 2. I liked the samurai armor because i am a out dores dude and samurais ar out dore people. 3. i dont think there was one. i dont know. because it was kind of unushual ond it was the first ane i saw. i wauld like to know if someone used it.
Personally my favorite and most interesting piece of art would have to be the Samauri, the piece had lots of texture and the materials just give it a unique look. I think it is interesting how the artist (which is unknown) used the materials he did which are iron, leather, silk, bear powder, gold leaf and a few more. The artist used all this material and made it into the most interesting piece of art that i have ever seen. -Preston
The art that keeps popping in my head is the Japanese armor. The most favorite memorable piece was the mountain with the japanese i dont remember what it was called. I dont remember the artist but it was a sculpture. It is impressionable because it shows details the river steps people all sorts of things. I want to know is how they built it.
I reamember the huge hello kitty kinda bunny thingy with a bunch of colors on it. yes it was my favorite because it was a giant sculpture and you wonder how they made it by it being that size and how they painted it all. i dont know the artist name and i dont know what type of art it was... i maybe think it was a certain type of sculpture. it is impressionable to me even though its not exactally a bunny it reaminds me of bunny. i want to learn more on th artist and the sculpture.
I remember the most from mia is the painting the haystack by Claude Monet it was so cool how he made the haystack and the the light of the sun on the haystack. I want to know how much paint it took to make it and what type of brush he made it with.

The interesting thing about the artwork was how the sarcophagus was mirrored with the other side. My most favorite piece was a sculpture made out of some kind of metal. It looked like a mouse/bunny and it stood maybe like six to seven feet tall with very small, short legs and full of many colors. I don't remember the artist name but i liked it because of its color and funkiness.....not very often you will come to a Art Museum and find a sculpture that looks like a Power-puff-girl....That honestly why i liked it so much, its just jumped out...I want to learn more about why the artist chose to make what he did.

i remember that there was so much art that you wouldn't be able to see it all in one day. my favorite piece of art was the sand painting. i do not remember the artists name. it was a sand "painting". it is impressionable to me because its the one that i most enjoyed. it was the most interesting by what it was made of to me. i really would like to know the little details like if all the colors and symbols meant anything special.

My most favorite piece at the MIA collection is..... I can't remember the artist's name, but it shows a old women siting down with the Victorian dresses and a mini purse. I also notice that the painting was made out of the oil paint. Lastly the reason I loved this piece of art is.....I love looking at the female wearing Victorian dresses, it just look so glamorous and such a lady-like.

the one with the sand the one on your blog jonah

My favorite piece would probably be, the panda one. I really don't know its name but, it was the most creative one.

All of the painting and structures wear very like perfect and pretty. My favorite piece was the big sun in the middle when we first walked in. I'm not sure the artist but I think it was made out of ballons. Because i would really like to make that. I would like to know who made it and how it was made.
I like the guardian figures made by an unknown artest and i like it because it looks proud and to me it feels like it has a meaning
I loved the sun sculpture (the on in the lobby). I also found the Jade Mountain interesting. That must've taken a lot of Jade! I forgot what the artists name was.

(Kate)
i like the Yamantaka Mandala.

3. i dont think there was one. i dont know. because it was kind of unushual ond it was the first ane i saw. i wauld like to know if someone used it.
